Ever wonder what happens when you have a great idea for your wedding design, then you team up with some of Victoria’s best wedding vendors, and then you bring out all the feels on a super loving, emotional day?!?! Well Rosalyn & Moses nailed it on all of those counts… add in the most beautiful hazy summer light, and you have the recipe for a truly perfect wedding day.
Their Inn at Laurel Point wedding was inspired by a love of travel and the movie “Up” – it’s here that Emma McCormick & her team really took off, if you will ;) The balloons were insanely gorgeous, not to mention the rest of the details, decor, and artwork by the groom’s sister. The entire design of Rosalyn & Moses’ day was simply jaw-dropping, while still being true to the couple’s whimsical, fun nature. Score!
All that amazing eye candy aside, it’s always the heartfelt moments that I’m seeking to capture most, and the love between these two and all of their families provided no lack of opportunities there. From Rosalyn & Moses’ first look, to their traditional Chinese tea ceremony, the vows, and of course the speeches… happy tears were a-flowin’ and it was GOOD. Just how a wedding celebration should be, right?!
It was a real honour to document this wedding, and I wish Rosalyn & Moses every happiness for their future together. Huge props go out to all the talented vendors involved – complete list at the end of this post – as well as a massive thank you to Courtney Clarke for being my kick ass second shooter! Xo

I absolutely adored all the meaningful & heart-filled elements that Julia & Garth infused into their modern wedding here in Victoria. Not only did they have amazing style – check out Julia’s short Anthropologie dress! – but they had the courage to stray from the norm and create a day that was perfectly unique to them. LOVE that so much.
For this couple, real moments with their guests were a huge priority. They wanted to spend as much time with their people as possible, and have candid photos that reflected their relationships as a result. Ummm yes please! We decided that it would be best to have a first look & portraits before the ceremony, so as to maximize this guest time. Garth joined Julia in her historical suite at the Gatsby Mansion while she & her girls prepared for the day… such a nice twist to have the groom’s company from the start. After their first look, we meandered around the property and into downtown Victoria for a few portraits, and ended our walk at the Open Space artists’ centre.
With its clean, modern aesthetic, Open Space was the perfect choice for a simple & minimalist wedding celebration. Everyone loved the stunning floating arch, created by the incomparable genius of Eiddwen Thomas at Cartref Gardens. The rest of the decor featured poets & authors loved by Julia & Garth – their names & words were scattered throughout the room as lovely reflections of the couple. And of course, so much beautiful emotion from all those present!
Big congratulations to J&G, and a special shout out to my awesome second shooter, Eva, too! Here are a few favourite photos from this sweet day. Xo

Holly & Matthew definitely pulled out all the stops for their gorgeous wedding at the Victoria Golf Club and Oak Bay Beach Hotel.
Together with their friends & family, they travelled all the way from Calgary to be married in one of the most beautiful places on the planet (ok, so I might be somewhat biased about my hometown). Holly & Matt wanted to give their families & guests an amazing celebration to remember. Every detail was lovingly taken care of, from monogrammed champagne glasses, blush Converse for the bridesmaids to change into, slick shades for the groomsmen, custom embroidered shirt sleeves & jacket lining on Matt, and even a surprise live band at the reception. Seriously top-notch!
During our chats & general planning, Holly made it clear that she really had only one MUST for her photos. And that was to create the money shot portrait on the rocks at the ocean’s edge – apparently that’s tricky to do back in Calgary ;) I think we managed to nail her request!
Big congratulations to these two, and props to all the fabulous vendors (listed below) who helped bring this day together beautifully. Xo

Photographing this wedding at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club last summer was a bit of a gift.
Christa & Tomas had originally booked another fabulous local photographer, who unexpectedly found she could no longer be there for them on their wedding day. Instead, she contacted me to fill her place and document this laid-back beachy wedding. After I met with Christa & Tomas, everything was confirmed and all parties were excited for the new arrangement!
Besides their love for each other, what I especially liked about this couple was their connection to the ocean & the outdoors. Christa had grown up sailing with her family, and her & Tomas spent as much time adventuring outside as possible. They really wanted their wedding photos to reflect this, and I was thrilled to make that happen! We chose the most amazing rocky shoreline for their portraits, and finished off the day with a little sail around Cadboro Bay on Christa’s family sailboat. What an absolute dream to create wedding portraits on a sailboat!! This involved a private shuttle zodiac ride for myself, as well as a transfer onto their yacht to join them under sail. With cameras & equipment dangling, and a 4.5 month pregnant belly, I scrambled aboard to capture the action!
Thank you so much to this amazing couple for welcoming me into their family for such a special day. Congratulations! And if you happen to know of anyone who needs some sailing wedding portraits, I’m your gal ;)

With 2016 all wrapped up, I wanted to take a look back at a few of my highlights of the year, starting with all the gorgeous weddings I was lucky to be a part of :) Some of these weddings have appeared on my blog before, while some are just making their first appearance here!
After moving back to the Island in 2015, 2016 marked my first full year of life & work back in Victoria. Still so happy we made the move over from Vancouver, and thrilled that the wedding industry here has been so warm and welcoming. It’s never easy relocating your business, and I am very grateful to everyone in Victoria who helped make the transition a smooth one – clients & industry peers alike!
Last year I had the chance to work with some fabulous Island couples, as well as a few equally awesome Vancouver couples at their mainland weddings. From wineries to churches, golf courses to beaches, there were definitely some beautiful venues and moments to be documented in 2016. It was a pleasure getting to know all my 2016 wedding clients, and I am looking forward to working with 2017’s ones too!
So without further adieu, here are a few favourites from last year’s weddings :)
Finally, a big thank you to all the vendors I had the pleasure of working with at these weddings! And a special shout out to my awesome second shooters of 2016. Cheers to all of you! Xo
