Last day of an amazing year today. On the personal side of things, I celebrated one year as a married woman this year, and am preparing to meet a new addition to our family in just a few days’ time!! We absolutely cannot wait to become parents :)
This pregnancy has led to a slightly less hectic business year than 2013… I learned to accept that as exactly what my body & mind needed these past few months. While I concentrated on more portrait sessions than weddings this year, I did have the privilege to second shoot for a number of other fabulous wedding photographers and loved doing so. Those weddings won’t be included here, but a few highlights from them might crop up in the New Year. For now, I’ve collected just a smattering of my favourite shots from 2014… a small sample of moments that spoke to me throughout a year’s worth of work.
I hope 2014 was good to you, and that the coming year proves to be full of love and happiness. A huge thanks to all of my clients and everyone I had the pleasure of working with this year! Here’s to 2015 and all that it brings! xo
I absolutely love when clients are willing to incorporate a bit of their story into their engagement photos :)
Kelly & Zach regularly walk their adorable dog, Jazzy, through the gorgeous UBC Endowment Lands… this magical forested area was special enough to them that Zach actually proposed to Kelly during one of these walks! Love it. So when we started discussing locations for the engagement session, it was pretty much a no-brainer where we should go. The icing on the cake was to use the “proposal tree stump” as a focal point for the photos, as this spot holds so much meaning to these two. How awesome to have a secret marker to remember where the moment happened… even Jazzy was in on it!
I’m so excited to be there for Kelly & Zach’s Okanagan wedding this coming summer. I know it is going to be a gorgeous celebration of love… and may include a certain black labradoodle :)
This session was my first time at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver, and man did this location deliver.
It turned out to be the perfect place for Kim & Mike’s engagement portraits, as they were looking to incorporate our city’s natural beauty into their session. Quite the opposite backdrop from where they originally met years ago in Ontario ;)
Their wedding is coming up in a few months’ time and I couldn’t be more excited to be there. Here are a few faves from this perfectly Westcoast e-session.
Since 2013 was such a big year for me, I decided I should attempt to wrap it all up in a “Best-of” post. Going through a year’s worth of work was no easy task, but I managed to narrow down a few favourite shots from this crazy year. Scroll on and enjoy :)
I truly feel so honoured to have been a part of all my clients’ precious moments… without you guys none of this would exist. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your memories and for allowing me to share in your most personal events.
All the best for 2014! xo
I’m all about creating an engagement session that has some meaning or connection to my couples. It could center around anything… where you went on your first date, where you go hiking all the time, how you love to laze around on a Sunday afternoon… as long as it feels authentic to you as a couple and your love, I’m game!
For Elena & Owen, the streets of Gastown were the perfect setting, as this is where he proposed to her… during the Gastown Chili Festival! I didn’t even know there was such a thing! And also they love DavidsTea ;)
Since they’ve just celebrated their marriage, I figured it was probably high time to post a few favourites from their engagement session. Wedding photos are coming – check back soon!
