Kim & Chris are such an adorable couple… they have an ease together that is just so natural and sweet.  They decided that the lovely Rocky Point Park in Port Moody would be the perfect place for their engagement portraits – close to home, and a frequent destination for their dog walking jaunts.  So off we ventured into the snow… it may have been chilly out, but I think their love warms up these photos quite nicely ;)  So looking forward to your wedding in just a few weeks’ time!

Elizabeth & Guillermo’s love began many years ago in their home country of Colombia, and has continued to thrive as they pursued schooling & careers in Canada.  Their wedding will be bringing family members up from Colombia, and so they have decided on a winter 2012 wedding to showcase the beauty of a Canadian winter.  awesome idea!

So on a crisp fall day, we headed out to Cates Park in North Vancouver to create a few engagement photos.  Elizabeth & Guillermo – thanks for braving the cold temperatures, the icy water, and the sharp rocks to get these photos… you guys are total troupers!  Looking forward to being there for you next year.

The original concept we had in mind for this shoot was something along the lines of faeries in the woods… however, after further discussions with her hubby-to-be, Shaugn, that idea was soon nixed for a more natural & relaxed foresty session.  Something that would still reflect Alicia’s love of hidden, magic places, and also incorporate a bit of an ethereal feel.  I am absolutely thrilled with the result… a fashion inspired session full of enchantment, light, and love.

Our first location was tucked up in the hills of Burke Mountain, not far from Alicia & Shaugn’s new Port Coquitlam home.  After a short hike and a few run-ins with mosquito hordes, our trail opened to a beautiful flowing creek.  Such a perfect spot!  We then headed out to explore the trails around Buntzen Lake, where Alicia wanted to have a few photos of her in the dress which was a definite contender for her wedding – absolutely gorgeous :)  We ended our session just as the light began to fade – perfect.

Alicia & Shaugn – you (and Charlie & Cheech!) completely rocked this session!  I had such a great time getting to know you both better, and I am SO excited to be there at your wedding next month :)

I just had to share this romantic engagement story because it is so perfect…  it beautifully reflects this couple’s love for everything outdoors and for each other.  Ross and Heather are two of the most adventurous and outdoorsy people I have the pleasure to know, so when it came to this engagement session, we wanted to incorporate some nearby west coasty places that are dear to their hearts.  We decided to venture down to the Seymour River, which is a short walk away from where they live in North Vancouver – and by short, I mean a heart-pumping million stair descent and hike through the forest. ;)  We ended our session with a trip to Mt. Seymour, where Ross & Heather have spent many happy hours on their snowboards and snowshoes.  As you’ll see from the photos, there was hardly a moment when we weren’t laughing… Ross’ ability to crack Heather up is so adorable!

So after seven years of being together, Ross and Heather will make it official this August, and I am so excited to be there and celebrate with them.  Thanks for being such a fun couple, you guys – can’t wait for the big day!

I first met Danielle a few years back through our mutual friend, Emilee (you may remember these two lovely ladies from Emilee’s own wedding day).  In an instant, I just loved her – with such an infectious positivity, a laugh that is easily brought on and slow to fade, a love for dressing up goofy, and a huge heart, what’s not to like?!  Through the years, our little girlie group has kept in touch, and even made it out to Vegas last summer for Emilee’s stagette – so fun!  Fast forward to last fall, when Danielle asked if I would join Emilee & her other besties as a bridesmaid in her July wedding…  I was so touched by this great gesture of friendship.  The least I could do was set her & Dustin up with an engagement session!

While visiting my good friends Jacki & Sue in Edmonton this past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting their soon-to-be-married friends, Chad & Jodi.  Chad & Jodi are the cutest together, and so great in front of the camera.  They even attracted the attention of the neighbouring kitty.  Thank you for the impromptu shoot, guys!  And what a perfect backyard for photos – thanks to Sue & Jacki for the location!
